HARD STUFF
Whoever is not challenged enough with the Marathon will certainly be happy here. The "Extreme Ultra" also starts at Everest Basecamp, but then turns a proper loop towards Gokyo before heading towards Namche.
SAGARMATHA NATIONAL PARK
The famous Everest Basecamp Trek leads through the Sagarmatha National Park and is one of the most beautiful trekking tours in the world. We first hike from Lukla to the base camp of Mount Everest. The ultramarathon day can be seen as a demanding running summary of this dream tour. The race leads from Mount Everest Basecamp to the finish in Namche Bazar, including a chic loop into another high mountain valley towards Gokyo. You can click on the map to get an overview of the area.
HIGH LIFE
The Extreme Ultra is a relatively short ultra marathon. But it will leave you breathless time and time again. Not only because of the views. Promise. Apart from the great height, snow and ice in the higher altitudes, exposed and blocked areas, there are also longer steep climbs to master. Participation is only recommended for trained and experienced (mountain) runners and trail runners. Are you in?
